近日，有不少PlayStation玩家在社交平台上表示，一款经典电子角色扮演游戏《Chrono Cross》（《超时空之钥》）在PS3和PlayStation Vita上无法启动或下载，系统提示该游戏已到期。
有Twitter用户Christopher Foose发布推文表示，日前曾尝试重新下载经典版《Chrono Cross》，但却收到游戏已于1969年12月31日到期的通知。

有人质疑这是诱使玩家试玩重制版《Chrono Cross》的策略，但这不仅只是一款游戏出现问题，《Chrono Trigger》、《Final Fantasy VI》、《Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions》及《Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny》都遇上类似问题。
有游戏YouTuber对Chrono Cross重制版进行测试表示，如没有经典版的《Chrono Cross》，重制版仍然具有一定的价值。他又指，如选择Switch版本，在手持模式下玩游戏会将分辨率降至720p。虽然故事、游戏玩法和氛围尽管存在一些技术限制，但仍然会引起共鸣。
问题很可能和Unix系统的设置有关，因Unix的时间记录是从格林威治时间1970年1月1日0时开始，疑后台故障导致将游戏的到期时间重置。目前，Sony仍未对游戏到期作出正式回复。
