Bill Gates在7月13日宣布捐出200亿美元给他与前妻共同创立的“Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation”基金，并于Twitter发帖，指出现在有很多全球性的挫折令人灰心丧气，怀疑世界是否已注定会更坏，因此宣布会捐出自己几乎所有的财产，并会退出全球富豪榜。
